Weight gain is caused by an imbalance between the amount of food consumed and energy expenditure. There are many factors that contribute to weight gain: snacking, stress, eating an unbalanced diet, or consuming overly large portions. All of these can lead to excess weight. While being overweight primarily presents aesthetic concerns, obesity poses a serious health risk. It increases the chances of developing cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, or high blood pressure, which, in some cases, can be fatal.
